A small fish,with max record size of about 5.5 inches (14 cm). Usually olive to brown with dark bars and a large number of round or elongated white spots of different sizes. There are usually dark longitudinal lines on the front part of the body,and small bright blue spots with dark outlines along the rear part of the body. Lifespan in captivity is usually 2 to 6 years when cared for properly.

The Salarias species are indigenous to tropical,shallow coastal habitats of the Indo-Pacific,East Africa, and Red Sea to Micronesia

The lawnmower Blenny has the capability to blend in with its surroundings to hide itself from predators.

Lawnmower blennies have evolved extremely large dorsal fins used to elaborate late-afternoon displays to attract females.

This fish is primarily an algae eater,munching on micro algae that grows in your aquarium. Their diet can be supplemented with vegetable matter,spirulina, and herbivore preparations.

The lawnmower Blenny is easy to keep if provided the right environment with plenty of algae. Also provide, plenty of caves and hiding places.
